Surfing the net the other day I came upon Maori bone carved fishhook pendants. They are symbols of prosperity and luck. Fascinated by these designs, and others, I decided to try my hand at carving similar things in wood. I am not that "in" to symbols, and I don't want to step on any spiritual toes. I just love the freeform designs. I did not copy any of the designs I saw. These are all done freehand with no patterns or templates. They are all finished with natural oil and wax. The initials were an inspiration, a result of doing the first three. I really enjoy the handwork that they require (about 80%), it give my mind some right brain time.
